Last week we started to create and design our own theme parks that would be attractive to the public. Students had to create a theme, name, rides, food stands, exhibits, and a place where concerts can be held. They had requirements that they had to meet and be as creative as possible. I showed them an example that I had made of the "Social Media Park."
It was so cool watching them problem solve and figure out how to have structures that supported their ideas. Once the coasters were almost completely finished the kids got to time their rides and see how fast they were going. I overheard conversations about how they could slow it down or make it faster using different structures. Although I may not ride some of the rides myself (one ride included free falling into a tunnel from 12 inches up) I saw such focus and engagement from all the students. They worked so hard on these and were so proud of themselves when the marble went from start to finish!
